Freedom Day in South Africa. Whilst we don't feel very free during lockdown, it's good to reflect on the many freedoms we do have in life.
On this day in 1994 South Africa held the first elections where all it's citizens could vote.Where were you? Tracey had a party at her place in Fairlands, Johannesburg and we all went off to vote in fancy dress after a few glasses of wine. We had a bit of a cooking day. For brunch we made Rolex. This is a Ugandan street food we learnt about on our recent trip there to see the gorillas. It's an omelette cooked with vegetables and rolled up in a chapati, served in newspaper.
For dinner Neil cooked rump steak that he had tenderised for 24 hours with Japanese Koji and I made gnocchi ( even lighter but not much prettier than my first attempt ) with a mushroom sauce.
For dessert we near perfected the lemon souffle served with double thick jogurt.
